Mr Deguara and his secretary went to great lengths to ensure that my surgical biopsy would take place as soon as possible

I had my Gall Bladder and large Gall stone removed by Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy at the end of November at The New Victoria Hospital. Dr Deguara was excellent he was very calming throughout my appointments and answered my numerous questions. His surgical skills were also exceptional. I had very little pain afterwards and now 6 weeks on just have 4 neat little scars. After my operation Dr Deguara came to visit me to discuss how the operation had gone and explained calmly how I would need another procedure at another hospital the next day to remove some discovered in my bile duct. Again I was put completely at ease and he came the next evening to check it had all gone smoothly. The New Victoria Hospital was also wonderful, the room was very clean and the staff were lovely. The food was also amazing, it was just a shame I couldn't eat much!

Six weeks ago, after a painful episode caused by a gallstone, I had my gall bladder removed by Mr Deguara. From the first consultation with him I felt his were a safe pair of hands: he was straight-forward , describing in clear detail the problems the gallstone could cause if no action was taken and the chances then of the problem recurring, and the dangers inherent in the surgery. The choice was mine and I opted for surgery. Mr Deguara was also very kind, answering all my questions in plain language, and giving me clear instructions on what I should and should not do in the weeks after the operation. The operation itself was uncomplicated, and the four small incisions have healed well. I am very satisfied with Mr Deguara's care, and glad that I chose him as my surgeon.

I was recommended Mr Deguara through an acquaintance who had a failed hernia repair on the NHS, and needed Mr Deguara to fix it. Also, my wife works in the medical sphere, so she did a bit of research and came back with recommendations for Mr Deguara. My experience didn't disappoint. In the run up to the operation, I found Mr Deguara to be credible and reliable, albeit with some professional distance. The operation appeared to go well, and as the aesthetic wore off, I waited for the pain to arrive. It never came. Certainly I was bloated and tender, but the scars were minimal, and I have yet to take one painkiller. Within three days I was attending an evening work event in Central London where I had to stand for two hours, with no pain. Three weeks later I spent ten hours walking the floor at an industry exhibition in Paris, again with no pain. Four weeks in, I am already starting a light exercise regime. I am aware of typical stories from friends and associates of pain lasting weeks when undergoing a hernia repair with other surgeons. Somehow I have avoided all that, and I think that must be to Mr Deguara's credit. I highly recommend this surgeon.
